Frequently Asked Questions
Planning your next adventure? We've answered the questions we're asked most often to help make booking your Hettie's Holiday as easy as possible.
Booking Your Holiday
-
Booking couldn't be easier! Simply choose your holiday, complete the booking form and pay your deposit (or full balance if your trip is within the balance due period). Once your booking is confirmed, we'll send you everything you need to start getting excited.
-
The deposit amount varies depending on the holiday you've chosen. Your remaining balance will be due before your departure date, and we'll remind you when it's time to pay.
-
Yes! We understand holidays are an investment, so you can spread the cost before your balance is due. Just get in touch and we'll happily discuss a payment plan.
-
If your chosen trip is fully booked, don't worry! Join our waiting list and we'll let you know if a space becomes available or when similar trips are released.
-
Once your booking is confirmed, we'll send you all the important information you need. As your departure gets closer, you'll receive your itinerary, travel information, packing tips and an invitation to your holiday WhatsApp group so you can meet everyone before you travel.
-
We release new holidays throughout the year! To be the first to hear about new destinations and secure your place before they sell out, follow us on social media or join our mailing list.
Before You Travel
-
Yes. Your passport must be valid for your destination, and some countries require additional validity beyond your return date. Please check the latest government travel advice before travelling.
-
If your destination requires a visa or travel authorisation, don't worry, we'll let you know in plenty of time and provide all the information you need. It's your responsibility to ensure you obtain the correct travel documents before departure.
-
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is compulsory for all Hettie's Holidays trips. We strongly recommend purchasing your insurance as soon as you book so you're covered if anything unexpected happens before or during your holiday.
-
Some destinations may recommend or require vaccinations. Please check with your GP or travel clinic well before you travel.
-
What you pack will depend on your destination, the time of year and the activities included in your holiday. As a general guide, don't forget your passport, travel insurance documents, comfortable footwear, chargers, any medication you need and clothing suitable for the weather and planned activities.
Flights
-
This depends on the holiday you've booked. Each trip clearly states exactly what's included, so please check the individual holiday page before booking.
-
Yes! Where possible, we'll do our best to arrange flights from your preferred UK airport. Simply let us know when booking.
-
For selected holidays, yes. Please contact us before booking so we can ensure your arrival and departure times fit with the group itinerary.
-
If we've arranged your flights, we'll do everything we can to help and keep you updated. If you've booked your own flights, please contact us as soon as possible so we can advise you.
-
If Hettie's Holidays has arranged your flights, your boarding pass will usually be sent once online check-in opens (typically around 24 hours before departure, depending on the airline). We'll make sure you have everything you need before you travel.
Accommodation
-
Unless you've booked a private room or your holiday specifically includes one, you'll share with another lady joining the trip. Many lifelong friendships have started with a room share!
-
Absolutely! Just let us know when booking and we'll make sure you're allocated together.
-
Some holidays offer private room upgrades, subject to availability and an additional supplement.
-
This depends on the accommodation. Full details are listed on each individual holiday page.
Solo Travellers
-
Absolutely! In fact, most of our guests join us on their own. Everyone arrives not knowing many (or any!) of the other ladies, which is exactly what makes it so easy to make new friends. By the end of the trip, it's not unusual for lifelong friendships to have been made.
-
That's completely normal! The majority of our guests travel solo, so everyone is in the same position. From the moment you arrive, you'll be welcomed into the group and quickly feel part of the Hettie's Holidays family.
-
Don't worry—many of our guests say exactly the same before their first trip. Our holidays are relaxed, welcoming and designed to help everyone feel comfortable. There's never any pressure, and friendships happen naturally.
-
Every Hettie's Holidays trip is hosted by one of our friendly and experienced hosts. They'll be there throughout your holiday to make sure everything runs smoothly, answer any questions and help everyone feel welcome.
-
We'll create your holiday WhatsApp group a few weeks before departure. It's a great place to introduce yourself, meet the other ladies travelling with you, ask questions and get excited before your adventure begins.
During Your Holiday
-
Our holidays are designed around travelling together, making memories and building friendships as a group, so we encourage everyone to join in where they can. However, this is your holiday. If there's an activity you'd rather not do, that's absolutely fine. You're welcome to relax, explore independently or book an alternative activity at your own expense. We simply ask that you let your host know your plans so we know you're safe.
-
Not at all! While we encourage everyone to enjoy the group experience, you're free to take time for yourself whenever you wish.
-
Every holiday is different, but your trip page will clearly list everything that's included, such as accommodation, transfers, activities, selected meals and flights where applicable.
-
Personal spending money, travel insurance, optional excursions, drinks (unless stated) and anything not specifically listed as included.
Food & Dietary Requirements
-
We'll always do our best to accommodate dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances. Please let us know when booking so we can advise what's possible for your chosen destination.
Money
-
This varies depending on your destination and spending habits. Before you travel, we'll provide guidance to help you budget for meals, drinks, shopping and optional activities.
-
In most destinations, yes. We do recommend bringing a small amount of local currency, as it can make splitting bills with the group much easier and is handy for smaller purchases or places where card payments aren't accepted.
Safety
-
Your safety is our top priority. We carefully choose our accommodation, trusted suppliers and activities to ensure every holiday is safe, enjoyable and well organised.
-
Your host is there to support you throughout the holiday and will assist should any issues arise. We'll always do everything we can to ensure you're looked after.
